Can Confidence Improve Your Catches?

I am sure many of you will already know that confidence does have a bearing on your success in this pastime that we have chosen.

A number of far better Anglers than myself have produced articles explaining techniques and strategies that may improve your catches in differing conditions.
I am sure we can all think of an angler  who appears to have more success than others when the fishing is difficult.
These same anglers always seem more confident than others, and with good reason! As it is a lot easier to sit patently and wait for a response from the fish when you know that you are using the correct method and feeding pattern for the conditions.
I guess that most of us at sometime have messed up a good swim by changing our tactics when nothing  seems to be working after a couple of hours.
It is quite common to hear an angler complaining that they have tried everything but have still not caught, this is hardly surprising as they more than likely will have started using a technique that has worked in the past in similar conditions.
So even if you try a variation to your starting technique, you are unlikely to get a response from the fish as your starting gambit, which has bought some success in the past has already failed, confirming that the fish aren't keen on feeding.
The unfortunate thing is that you may have hit on an improvement to your starting technique, but will not know it, as the chances of it working when the fish turn their noses up at a method that has worked in the past, is unlikely at best. Far better to do the experimenting when your number one choice is working well, as any improvement or failure will be obvious.
