Just a short note this week. In the only short session of the week I again caught a tench, a smaller female this time of 4lbs still a great fight though.
A pattern is developing; a pretty poor early evening followed by a blistering half hour to an hour at the end of the evening when it is a bite a chuck. Again the tench did nnot come until
8:30pm. This is fine but as we have to pack up at 9pm it does limit the number of opportunities to catch.
I did have an interesting conversation with a carp fisherman who had been putting in the hours down at the lake. He had landed two tench in the late afternoon early evening whilst
carping. He showed me the photos and I instantly asked how much the larger fish weighed - he did not weigh it (groan) but from my eye that fish had to be at least 7 1/2lbs maybe more. I requested that he send the
photo in to be shown on the web site, as it is certainly the biggest tench I have heard of from Hever. We shall see if it appears.
To my horror the time I have to fish is rapidly diminishing the closer I get towards my wedding which is depressing, but it will not last forever and I will be having a fish filled
September to make up for it.
